Vision and Mission

Our Vision

Reproducing disciples of a Certain Kind

“And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

2 Timothy 2:2

The principle behind this powerful verse is that of multiplying our influence. Notice that there are 4 Generations here:

Paul – First there must be a man called and committed.
Timothy – Then there must be a disciple who is willing and desirous.
Faithful Men – Then there must be some who are faithful and available.
Others – Finally there must be those of a “certain kind” who are ready and trainable.

Paul unveiled a disciple-making strategy that Timothy could use to help build the Church in Ephesus. The key was discipleship.

The word reliable or faithful – denotes “one who shows himself faithful in transacting a business, executing a command or discharging an official duty” or “one who is trustworthy and can be relied on.” The word ‘others’ here in the Greek word heteros.

This word denotes not just another additional number but it speaks also of another of the same quality. Therefore this word others in 2 Timothy 2:2 can be better translated as “others of a certain kind”. So what Paul is talking about here is discipleship where we reproduce after our own certain kind.

And this is our primary task as a church – to reproduce disciples of a certain kind.

Our Culture

People come before projects. Relationships are more critical than results. We want a culture where we value people as individuals.

Matthew 25:21 – His Lord said unto Him, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: Enter thou into the joy of the Lord.”

This is one thing we all long to hear from the Lord when we cross the finishing line. To have the Lord say to us: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…”

Encapsulated within this one phrase are core values that drive Oxford Word Of Faith Church.

OUR VALUES & BELIEFS

Statement of Faith

We believe in one God –  Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried; He was resurrected, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is true God and true man.
We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and conduct.
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
We believe in personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
We believe in sanctification through the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit, and We believe in personal holiness, purity of heart and life.
We believe in divine healing, through faith in the Name of Jesus Christ, and that healing is included in redemption.
We believe in water baptism, in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as distinct from the new birth, in speaking with tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4), in the gifts of the Spirit, and the evidence of the fruit of the spirit. We believe that all of these are available to believers.
We believe in the Christian’s hope, the soon-coming, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
